Method
Prep the tray
- Line a sheet pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.
Melt and thin the white coating
- Melt the white melting chocolate according to package directions, heating until smooth and fully pourable.
- Stir in coconut oil if needed to loosen the melted chocolate for smoother dipping.
Dip and sprinkle
- Dip each Oreo completely into the melted chocolate, covering the cookie and edges evenly.
- Tap each Oreo gently against the bowl edge to remove excess coating.
- Place the dipped Oreo onto the prepared sheet pan, leaving space between cookies so they don’t touch while setting.
- Immediately decorate with red sprinkles, blue sprinkles, and patriotic star sprinkles so the toppings adhere to the wet coating.
Drizzle and set
- Drizzle some Oreos with melted red candy melts in thin lines while the white coating is still slightly tacky.
- Drizzle the remaining Oreos with melted blue candy melts in thin lines.
- Allow the chocolate coating to set completely at room temperature until firm to the touch, about 30 minutes, then serve.
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Notes
Pro tip: If your melted chocolate looks thick or pools, add the coconut oil a little at a time to keep the dip glossy and even. Store covered in the fridge up to 3 days (bring to room temperature for best texture); freezing is not recommended. For a dairy-free swap, use a dairy-free white melting chocolate alternative and keep the same topping amounts.
